The 22000 Miles Long March – Conclusion
The day has come - the 22000 Miles Long March commences today.
For those of you who don't why this is happening, here is a summary:
1. I won the chance to buy a Cathay Pacific ORD-HKG Roundtrip ticket for $100.
2. I am based in San Francisco - so I have to get to Chicago to catch my flight.
3. I decided to hang out with my friend in Beijing, so I have to travel from Hong Kong to Beijing.
4. The entire cost of this trip is about $300, including the hotel in Chicago (due to scheduling issue, it is best I stay Chicago for a night), and 30K miles (as HKG-PEK is on award ticket).
5. IT IS NOT A MILEAGE RUN.
This massive will be divided into different portions based on flights:
a. 11/10 - CO 1660 (SFO-ORD)
b. 11/11 - CX 807 (ORD-HKG)
c. 11/13 - CA 108 (HKG-PEK)
d. 11/14 - CA 115 (PEK-HKG)
e. 11/19 - CX 806 (HKG-ORD)
f. 11/19 - UA 973 (ORD-SFO)
As always - all are in Economy...unless I am lucky...
As this is the beginning of the trip report, let me show you what I happened so far during check-in
This is the screen shot of upgrade situation for my CO 1660 flight, serviced by a Boeing 737-800 (160 seats total).
I assume all First-Class passengers are elite members. If it is the case, there are totally 70 people (43.75% of all seats available) on this flight are elite members.
SFO-ORD is known as a heavy-elite route. In other word, basically, unless you are top-tier elite members, don't ever think about upgrade.
Something even more funny - this flight (and among other flights later) are all overbooked.
So will I get the VDB (Voluntary Denied Boarding) compensation? Or are they going to offer one?
I will definitely provide an update.
How about CX 807?
I am surprised that I got my lounge invitation from online check-in:
But it is too bad - SAS Business Lounge, instead of Swiss Lounge.
I will say if I can switch tomorrow.
